Starter and Entree Pairings to Try This Fall

How often can you try the same combination of meals? Instead of sticking with what you know and are comfortable with, try something new! Better yet, try two new things. We have some unique starter and entree pairings for you to try the next time you’re dining with Cork. Even if you choose one of your favorites as one portion, pairing it with something new can make it even better.

Five Starter and Entree Pairings to Try This Fall

New Orleans Crab Cake & Braised Beef Short Ribs

Picture it like this: jumbo lump crabmeat, all the shellfish you can eat, coated creole mayo, sprinkled with old bay seasoning. Yum! Think of having that juicy, meaty crab as a starter to get your mouth watering, and then you top off with some Braised Beef Short Ribs.

Two completely different meats to drive the taste buds wild. The old bay seasoning of the New Orleans Crab Cake will prepare your mouth for the taste of the gorgonzola risotto that is served with the ribs. The marsala sauce tops it off to make it the ultimate starter and entree pairing, hitting every tasting palette you have.

Shrimp Au Gratin & Apricot Salmon

Maybe you’re not into mixing your red meats and seafood. If you’re looking for an all seafood platter, we’ve got you covered too. You can start off with the Shrimp Au Gratin, prepared with garlic, white wine, cream, and cheese.

This preps you for the more tender and hot apricot salmon. The tart mustard glaze will soothe the garlic on your tongue, and the Sweet Potato Fries add a little something sweet.

Fried Calamari & Red Chili Garlic Shrimp

What if you’re a shellfish kind of person? Fried Calamari is a great starter to complete this entree pairing. It sounds like something familiar at first, but the accompanying sauteed prosciutto lets you experience something new all on its own. Combine that with the garlic and lemon aioli, and you’ve had the best shellfish has to offer.

But that’s only the starter to prepare for the Red Chili Garlic Shrimp entree. The jumbo shrimp-filled soy garlic red chili broth will ensure the meal only gets better.

Neapolitan Style Meatballs & Peach Whiskey Pork Fillet

In case we’ve gone in the opposite direction of what you’re willing to try, this starter and entree pairing is all about the meats. Start off with Neapolitan Style Meatballs, served in san marzano tomato sauce — something that should be both familiar and new. One of the best ways to find a new favorite is to mix something new with something familiar.

Pair that with Peach Whiskey Pork Fillet, and any meat lover should be in heaven. You’re not just getting the pork fillet, but bacon too, leaving you with three different tasting portions of meat to enjoy. Who said you can’t have too much of a good thing?

Cork Salad & Traditional Chicken Dishes

Lastly, what would be more impressive than putting a new spin on an old classic? You can try something new while enjoying what you always have. The Cork Salad and the Traditional Chicken aren’t the same at Cork as they are everywhere else.

This starter and entree combination mixes it up by replacing the usual dressing, cheese, and croutons with a mix of greens. You get apples, candy walnuts, dried cranberries, and bleu cheese to go along with the house dressing.
