Keep Warm this Holiday Season with Winter Weather Cocktails

As we get into the full swing of the holiday season, we may be feeling overwhelmed – decorating the entire house, buying presents for everyone on your list, and making sure the holiday family dinner plans are ready to go, all while continuing to work and taking care of the family, surely causes unwanted stress. So why not relax with a winter weather cocktail? We promise that you’ve earned it after the past few months of 2020. Let’s check out some holiday favorites to help get you in the spirit.

Peppermint Bark Mimosa

You can’t get through the holiday season without eating at least one candy cane. But what if we told you that you could drink one this year? That’s right — the first concoction we’re recommending tastes just like candy canes. To make this minty mimosa, you need:

  • 1/4 c. semisweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 3 candy canes, crushed
  • 6 oz. peppermint schnapps, divided
  • 1 bottle champagne or prosecco
  • 6 candy canes, whole

Begin by taking your glass and dipping the rim in the melted chocolate, before rolling it in the crushed candy canes. Then add your peppermint schnapps and fill the rest of the glass with your choice of champagne or prosecco before garnishing with a whole candy cane.

Gingerbread Eggnog

Say goodbye to Grandma’s traditional eggnog and hello to this gingerbread eggnog recipe from Delish. You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon sugar
  • Ice
  • 1 c. eggnog
  • 1 c. vodka
  • 1 c. Kahlúa
  • 2 tbsp. molasses, plus more for drizzling
  • Pinch ground ginger
  • Whipped cream, for topping

Begin by wetting the rim of your glass and coating it in the cinnamon sugar. Then in a cocktail shaker, add ice, eggnog, vodka, Kahlúa, molasses, and ginger. Shake until blended and then pour into your glass before topping with whipped cream and drizzling with the remaining molasses. This Christmas favorite is sure to put a sweet fire in your bones, keeping you warm as you enjoy the festivities.

Apple Cider Mule

You won’t need to mull anything over while enjoying this winter weather mule. Served in traditional copper mugs, this cocktail is crafted by adding ice and 2oz of vodka to a 2:1 ratio of sparkling cider and ginger beer. Finish it off by adding a fresh apple slice and a cinnamon stick. Curl up next to the fireplace with a good book and you’ve got quite the winter weather plans.
