Daiquiris For Days

This coming Sunday, July 19th, is National Daiquiri Day! For those who aren’t familiar with daiquiris, they are cocktails typically made of rum, citrus juice, and sugar. There are several different types and what better way to celebrate than by sharing some of our favorites! Let’s check them out.

A Classic Daiquiri

You can’t go wrong with a classic daiquiri. Both tart and sweet, it’s the perfect summer refresher. To make it, you only need three ingredients: white rum, lime juice, and sugar or simple syrup. Shake these up in a cocktail shaker with ice, strain, and you’re ready to go!

Sweet Strawberry Daiquiris

Perhaps one of the most popular types of daiquiris, the strawberry daiquiri is one for the books — the recipe book, that is. This frozen treat is the ultimate summer cooldown, so get out your blender and follow along. You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strawberries, de-stemmed
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 4 oz. of white rum
  • 1.5 oz. of fresh lime juice
  • Strawberries for garnish

Add everything, except the strawberries for the garnish, to your blender and blend! Then pour into your glasses, add a strawberry to each rim, and enjoy!

Coconut Daiquiri

Keeping up with the summer flavors, next up, we have a fresh coconut daiquiri. Once again, you’ll need white rum (8 oz.) for this tasty concoction, along with cream of coconut (8 oz.), fresh lime juice (3 oz.), and ice (8 cups). Blend all of these ingredients together and divide equally into four glasses. To make them extra special, serve with a colorful straw and a paper umbrella.

Pineapple Mango Daiquiri

Another frozen favorite, this pineapple mango daiquiri is just a simple summer treat. You do need a few more ingredients, but don’t worry, it’s worth it.

  • 4 oz. of white rum
  • 2 oz. of fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple, cubed
  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen mango
  • 1/4 cup of filtered water
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • Pineapple wedges for garnish

Blend all of the above, except for the pineapple that will be used to garnish, and pour into your glasses. Add the pineapple to the rim of the glass before serving. The recipe does not call for extra mangos for garnishing the drink, but if you’d like to add them, we’re sure it won’t hurt!

Sleeping Lotus – Daiquiris

By now, you’re probably hoping that at least one of the daiquiris that we mention won’t include white rum. Never fear, we’ve got just the rum-free cocktail recipe for you! The Sleeping Lotus is a gin lover’s dream. For this pick-me-up, make sure that you have:

  • .75 oz. of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz. of Orgeat
  • 2 oz. of gin
  • 2 dashes of orange bitters
  • 8 oz. of crushed ice
  • An edible flower or lemon wheel for garnish

Much like every other frozen daiquiri recipe, simply blend, garnish, and serve!
